Hi everyone! My name is Harrison, and I’ll be serving as the president of the MCYC.

I’m a recent life science and computer science graduate from the University of Toronto (UofT). I’ve served as an orientation leader for the computer science student union, recognised for my initiative in organising groups that were accidentally disbanded and actively supporting those who were confused at the time. I’ve also been on the board of executives for my college’s student council, notably advising on important information and technology decisions.

For the past two years, I’ve volunteered at the Chinese Folklorama as the lead volunteer under Dr. Ben Liang’s beverages team. During this time, I was introduced to the cool work the MCYC does, and I immediately saw the potential to introduce Chinese culture to a broader audience and help bridge our communities.

Outside of my studies, I used to play on the nationals table tennis team for Manitoba. I’m a huge fan of racket sports, from table tennis to badminton (though I can’t promise I’m very good at the latter). I also enjoy a variety of video games such as but never limited to FFXIV, Minecraft, and Apex Legends.

As president of the MCYC, I hope to increase its already significant recognition and bring together those interested in Chinese culture. By bridging differences between cultures, everyone gets to discover new, fascinating things. It was a pleasure meeting everyone at Assiniboine Park. Thank you all for your ongoing and future work with the MCYC. I’ll do my best to support our community however I can and look forward to working with everyone. Feel free to DM me with any questions or concerns I may be able to address. Or if you want to chat about why League of Legends may be a serious health risk for the youth 😉
